Standard vs. Scar Less Breast Augmentation

Standard breast augmentation uses an incision under the breast, around the areola, or in the underarm to place an implant. This implant can contain saline or silicone. This type of augmentation leaves a visible scar, and creasing a pocket to hold the implant can disturb the tissue and cause swelling and discomfort after surgery.

Dr. Vitolo prefers a Scar Less breast augmentation. During this procedure, he will make an incision hidden within the belly button and create a channel under the surface of the abdomen to reach the breasts. He will insert temporary sizers, fill them with saline, measure the volume, and insert the new implants. This option only works for saline implants since the implants must be empty when inserted.

Breast Augmentation or Breast Lift

Some breast sagging happens because the breasts have lost volume. A Scar Less breast augmentation can place implants that will replace this volume and lift minor sagging. If you have significant loose skin, a breast lift may make a good option for you.

If you have a breast lift, you can have augmentation simultaneously. A breast lift creates an incision to remove loose skin and reposition the areola, making it point outward instead of down and reducing the size if desired. Dr. Vitolo can place a breast implant simultaneously without any additional incisions.

Correcting Breast Issues

Not everyone chooses breast augmentation for enlargement. Some women want an improved breast shape or more forward projection. You may have asymmetrical breasts and want a breast augmentation to correct them. Uneven shape or size can make you feel self-conscious about your breasts and make it difficult to find clothes that fit.

You may also have breast augmentation to correct another procedure or improve results. Secondary breast reconstruction improves the appearance of the breasts after previous surgery. Dr. Vitolo often performs this procedure for women who have had a  lumpectomy or mastectomy for cancer.

What is Recovery Like From Breast Augmentation?

Recovery from Scar Less breast augmentation is much shorter than standard breast augmentation. Many people return to work within just one or two days. The Scar Less procedure causes almost no bleeding and minimal tissue disruption. This means you have much less swelling, bruising, or soreness than you would have with a standard procedure.

Professional and very experienced. Highly recommend Dr Vitolo. Will be going back!
