Am I a Candidate for a Rhinoplasty?

People may not be staring at your nose, but if your nose bothers you, it might feel like they are. A rhinoplasty can change the shape of your nose to give it a more proportionate, symmetrical appearance. Only your surgeon can determine whether you will be a good candidate for rhinoplasty.

What is a Scar Less Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose by manipulating the bones, skin, and cartilage. Dr. Vitolo performs a Scar Less rhinoplasty by making all incisions inside the nostrils. These hidden incisions allow him to sculpt your nose to the size and shape you want with no visible scars afterward. Dr. Vitolo uses the Scar Less method for all but a few rhinoplasties.

Am I a Candidate for a Rhinoplasty?

During your consultation, Dr. Vitolo will assess several factors to determine whether you are a candidate for rhinoplasty. You may be a good candidateif:

  • You do not have any serious health problems
  • You do not smoke or use tobacco products
  • You are prepared to take the needed time to recover
  • You have reasonable expectations about your results
  • You want to change the appearance of your nose
  • You have problems breathing because of your nose

If you want to see a noticeable improvement in the appearance of your nose and understand what to expect, you may be an excellent candidate.

Functional vs. Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

Some people have a cosmetic rhinoplasty to change the appearance of their noses. Others want to breathe better and have a functional rhinoplasty. Cosmetic rhinoplasty is performed for aesthetic purposes and is not covered by insurance. A surgeon performs functional rhinoplasty to correct a problem that keeps you from breathing normally. You might have a deviated septum or an old nose injury that blocks airflow. Insurance may help pay for a functional rhinoplasty.

Is There a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

No non-surgical procedure can achieve the results of a rhinoplasty. If you want to see minor changes to your nose while avoiding surgery, you might consider a non-surgical nose job. This procedure uses dermal fillers to smooth minor bumps or add subtle shaping. Results will last several months. While this procedure does not produce the changes you can achieve with surgery, it has no recovery time.

What is Recovery Like From Rhinoplasty?

You will have a cast on your nose for about five days after surgery. You may be able to return to work before the cast comes off if you feel comfortable. You can resume most of your usual activities as soon as Dr. Vitolo removes the cast.

Professional and very experienced. Highly recommend Dr Vitolo. Will be going back!
