How Long Does a Rhinoplasty Take?

If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your nose, then chances are that you’ve considered undergoing rhinoplasty surgery.

This popular cosmetic procedure aims to correct nasal abnormalities, whether they’re cosmetic or medical in nature. A rhinoplasty can correct a misshapen nasal bridge, shave down a bulbous tip or bump, or even fix uneven nostrils for better (and healthier!) breathing.

But exactly how long does the rhinoplasty procedure take? And how long is recovery?

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Vitolo is here to explain how long his rhinoplasty procedure takes, as well as what to expect from recovery.

How Long Does the Rhinoplasty Procedure Take?

At Dr. Vitolo’s practices (located in Manhattan, Staten Island, and Brooklyn), his rhinoplasty procedure usually takes 1 ½ to 2 hours to perform.

Dr. Vitolo is also pleased to be among the few plastic surgeons who offer a Scar Less Rhinoplasty Procedure. This means he performs the surgery entirely within the nostrils, meaning there’s no external or visible scarring. Also, D. Vitolo Does not use packing in the nose that has to be removed after the surgery (an uncomfortable procedure)

And while this procedure may take longer than a traditional rhinoplasty (where the plastic surgeon essentially creates an incision in the front of the nose and lifts the skin of the nose up), Dr. Vitolo is famous for saying: “Patients don’t come to me to do a procedure the easy way, but in the best way for the patient without leaving a needless scar on the nose, just for the sake of expediency.”

Bottom line? Your rhinoplasty procedure may take longer – but that means you won’t have to deal with noticeable scarring!

How Long Does Rhinoplasty Recovery Take?

Dr. Vitolo’s Scar Less Rhinoplasty Procedure comes with minimal recovery; in fact, many patients feel so good after their surgery that they’re able to return to work a day or two after treatment.

You will be required to wear a nose plaster after your surgery; this cast will typically stay on for about four to five days before Dr. Vitolo removes it in a follow-up visit.

During the extent of your recovery, you can exercise and go about your normal routine with minimal disruption.

About 80% of your results can be seen after the cast is removed, but you won’t see your final results until several months after your procedure.

Professional and very experienced. Highly recommend Dr Vitolo. Will be going back!
