What is the Recovery Time for Spider Vein Treatments?

Life can get pretty busy these days. That’s why, if you’re considering spider vein treatments, you want to know how long it’ll take you to recover. After all, you don’t have tons of time to spend on bedrest…

So exactly how long will it take for you to get back on your feet after your spider vein treatment?

With board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Vitolo’s innovative approach to spider vein treatments, it can be a lot sooner than you think.

Sclerotherapy for Spider Vein Treatments

Sclerotherapy is an FDA-approved treatment that treats stubborn spider veins – with no downtime or recovery needed. This convenient treatment works via a special saline solution, which is injected through a super-fine needle into the offending veins. The solution works to irritate the vein walls, causing them to close up (don’t worry, it won’t harm your blood flow or surrounding healthy veins).

Over time, the body absorbs the closed veins, leaving behind visibly clear and smooth skin. Sclerotherapy results usually appear about three to six weeks after a series of a few treatments, each of which can take about 20 minutes to an hour to perform.

Dr. Vitolo considers this to be a truly life-changing procedure for patients, especially for people who feel self-conscious about the appearance of pesky spider veins on their arms or legs. He performs all sclerotherapy treatments himself to ensure that patients are 100% thrilled with their incredible results.

What is the Recovery Time for Sclerotherapy?

There’s no recovery time for sclerotherapy treatments, so you can get back to your day faster.

However, Dr. Vitolo does note that some patients may experience minor irritation during the treatment itself, but these side effects usually disappear after a couple of days.

How Do I Know If I’m a Good Candidate?

You’re a good candidate for sclerotherapy if you have blue, purple, or dark red spider veins on your arms or legs (or both!) that bother you. Spider veins that are visible but smooth to the touch are the ones that usually respond best to sclerotherapy treatments.

Spider veins usually afflict women, but they can happen to anyone. If you spend a lot of time on your feet or have been pregnant, you’re more likely to experience spider veins.

“Dr. Vitolo is excellent and experienced. I am extremely satisfied. I would recommend him to anyone. His staff is friendly and make you feel extremely comfortable. Great work!” *
