How Long is Recovery from a Mommy Makeover?

While every Mommy Makeover surgery is different – that’s because it’s highly personalized to each patient – most people can expect their recoveries to last about two to three weeks. Most of the recovery will take place over the first ten days; by the second or third week  you’ll be feeling more like your normal (and now fabulous!) self.

What Should I Expect from My Mommy Makeover Recovery?

Patients are able to go home the day of their Mommy Makeover surgery. Dr. Vitolo recommends that patients try to be up and walking around in the days immediately after the surgery, and to only lay down for sleep. This gentle activity helps promote faster and healthier healing than remaining sedentary for days at a time.

Patients should expect to take the first seven to 10 days off from work, especially if more manual work is part of the job. Dr. Vitolo also recommends avoiding housework during this pivotal time, so patients may want to prep their partners for the extra work during their Mommy Makeover recovery.

Dr. Vitolo points out that strenuous exercise should be avoided for the first three to four weeks after the Mommy Makeover surgery, or until he’s given the green light.

You’re a good candidate for a Mommy Makeover if your body has changed as a result of one or more pregnancies, and you’re having trouble getting it back through diet and exercise. These changes can include:
