How Often Should You Get Botox® Treatments?

Our facial expressions share our emotions with the world, but they can also cause lines and wrinkles with time. If you want to smooth away these expression lines for a more youthful appearance, you may make an excellent candidate for Botox®This wrinkle relaxer works by stopping muscle contractions so your skin can remain smooth.

What is Botox®?

Botox® and other wrinkle relaxers use modified versions of botulinum toxin, a protein produced by bacteria. It blocks the action of targeted nerves, stopping the muscle movements that keep your skin creased and wrinkled. Botox® has been FDA approved for crow’s feet around the eyes, horizontal forehead lines, and vertical creases between the brows.

How Does Botox® Work?

Most plastic surgeons leave Botox® injections to an aesthetician or other staff. However, Dr. Vitolo performs Botox® treatments himself to ensure his patients achieve the best possible results. When injected, Botox® targets the facial nerves that tell your muscles to contract. It blocks these nerves from sending signals to the muscle. As a result, the muscle stops moving, and the skin softens and becomes smoother. Botox® does not harm the nerve or muscle, and its results will wear off within a few months.

How Often Should You Get Botox® Treatments?

How long Botox® lasts varies from person to person. Dr. Vitolo typically sees his patients’ results last for four to five months. For people new to Botox®, effects may fade faster, while for regular users of Botox®, the results can last up to six months. Dr. Vitolo will develop a Botox® schedule to keep you looking smooth and youthful.

How Long Does it Take to See Botox® Results?

Dr. Vitolo specializes in a natural-looking, youthful result from Botox® that never looks overdone or fake. After your injections, you will usually see results within three to five days. Your results may continue to develop for another few days after this. The active ingredient in Botox® takes a few days to reach and block signals from the facial nerves.

Is There Any Downtime With Botox®?

Your Botox® treatment will take about 15 minutes, and you can return to your usual activities immediately. You may notice some sensitivity, redness, or bruising in the injection area. You can expect these to fade within a day or two.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox®?

Botox® is FDA-approved and has many medical and aesthetic uses. Most people make good Botox® candidates, especially if they are in good overall health. You should not have Botox® if you have had an adverse reaction to a similar treatment or if you have certain medical conditions.

Professional and very experienced. Highly recommend Dr Vitolo. Will be going back!
